Project Details
The French Embassy supported GLOWDEP to implement the Girl Child Education and Women Empowerment Project last year under which some Girls’ Clubs were formed in schools in the Central Tongu District.
The second phase of this project seeks to monitor and strengthen the existing Girls Clubs established by GLOWDEP through the support of the French Embassy in Ghana. Therefore as a strategy towards the sustainability of the Girls’ Clubs, GLOWDEPorganized a Trainer of Trainees (TOT) workshop on 30th May 2018 for School Based Coordinators of Girls’ Clubsfrom thirty-seven (37) Basic and Senior High Schools from the Adidome, BakpaAvedo, Anfoe,Devime, Kpedzeglo, Mafi Kumasiand ZongoCircuits.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), Central Tongu District at the Central Tongu District Assembly Old Hall in Adidome.
In attendance were the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Central Tongu District, Queen Mother of the Mafi Traditional Area, Officials from the Ghana Education Service, Headmasters from the various School, Circuit Supervisors, Girls’ Club Coordinators among others.
The Speakers of the training workshop were from Global Women Development Promoters (GLOWDEP), Ghana Education Service, Central Tongu District, Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) and the Ghana Health Directorate. Topics discussed included Gender Parity in the Central Tongu District and strategies to improve it – The Global and National picture of Gender Parity, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health, Menstrual Hygiene and management practices and Principles of Counselling.
